Mark Occhilupo has this to say about SurfAid,

“I’ve been an Ambassador for SurfAid for the past 10 years, and I’ve seen the work they do helping mothers and their families in remote areas of Indonesia where we all love to surf. They are doing amazing things. It was a blast to be part of this event. I’m really stoked that the money we raised will save and improve a lot of lives.”

Celebrity chef Russell Blaikie created the concept of Surfing Chefs for SurfAid in 2011 and the series of events has now raised over $200,000 for SurfAid and helped fund their work in the Mentawai and Nias islands, off the coast of Sumatra, and Sumbawa and Sumba in Eastern Indonesia.

“I can't think of a better place on the planet than The Bucket List in Bondi. Tom and Andy pulled together a super-talented group of chefs from Sydney. Fellow sandgroper and ‘Surfing the Menu’ Chef Ben O'Donoghue flew down from Brisbane, and Matthew Butcher joined us from Melboure” said Blaikie.

SurfAid CEO Andrew Judge adds, “SurfAid is enormously grateful to the chefs, sponsors and guests that support SurfAid at this event. The funds raised are critical for improving lives in extremely remote villages in Indonesia. SurfAid is the charity where the passion for surfing intersects with the passion for giving back.”
